Helicopter & Zodiac Iceberg Tour

Cruise past icebergs the size of apartment buildings!

Listen to the ice cracking and watch chunks of ice fall into Lake George – a National Landmark!

Fly by helicopter to the land of the iceberg – Lake George. Awarded Natural Landmark status for its scenic beauty, Lake George is the perfect place to get away from it all!

On the way, admire the mighty Knik Glacier from the helicopter.  We often see wildlife; bears, moose and mountain goats are all observed daily.  As the helicopter begins it’s descent to the lake you’ll realize the scale of the glacier and icebergs; everything out here is XXL –  Some of the icebergs are the size of an apartment buildings and may take several years to melt.

Once the helicopter sets down your guide will get you outfitted with life jackets and accompany you to the boat. This is a 15.5′ long Zodiac style boat, similar of that used by Special Forces.  It is equipped with a small, quiet 4-stroke outboard motor.  Within minutes you’ll be on your way to see the icebergs up close.  You will hear the ice cracking and hopefully watch chunks of ice fall into the lake from lake level. Take a piece of glacier ice back to put in your favorite drink that evening!  Lake George is fed by the massive Colony Glacier, meaning you’ll find yourself surrounded by giant icy monoliths.   Your guide will take you within a safe proximity to the icebergs– typically within 100′. Since it’s an open boat you have great visibility all around – the perfect environment for picture taking of these incredible sculptures of nature. You will see up close close the differences in each massive block of ice – some of them are smooth and deep blue while others are rough and bright white! Your guide will explain the differences, making for a lasting and educational experience for the whole family!

Make this the ultimate adventure with an additional glacier landing add-on. In route back to the lodge, you’ll make an additional glacier landing for 30-minutes to explore the azure blue melt pools and bizarre ice formations with your pilot guide.
