About Knik River Lodge
You should know I grew up in a small city back in Europe. Busy and noisy. I was always biking to work, school and shops, zigzagging through crazy traffic.
Heavy shopping bags on the handlebars. The weather was mostly gray, rainy and windy. Little did I know that one day I would be driving my car with heated seats and studded tires on wintery Alaska roads. Dodging moose instead of people and being amazed - even after 11 years - to see a bald eagle swoop down from her wintery perch.
I am grateful for my new life at the last frontier. Husband, kid, two dogs (most of the time - they like to go on extended adventures) and a house with an incredible view. Life is bit less hurried here, especially in the winter. I like winters; the snow makes everything soft and quiet, the purple hue of sunset gives way to clear nights and northern lights; it really is magical out here.
