Aurora / Northern Lights

Magical Lights – Aurora, Christmas and other magic at the end of the road

With a sleepy head I get into my car. Brr, it is cold outside and the heater can hardly keep up. Hurray for down jackets and snow skirts. Oh boy, I wish I could take it a bit slower this morning but no…crank up the radio. Let’s Dance from Bowie is on, great!

Christmas is just 3 days away. All presents for my boys are nicely wrapped but I guess they need to eat as well. So I have to run errands and finish the preparations for a company Christmas party we’re hosting at Knik River Lodge tomorrow. Centerpieces, fresh ironed linen and Christmas lights everywhere. With the setting against the snow covered peaks the place looks enchanting and I’m sure we’ll impress our guests with the food and the ambiance. The campfire should do the rest.

Moose on the road – stay focused Eva!

I’m tired from staying up for last nights’ northern lights. I guess I needed that extra hour of sleep, but who wants to be sleeping when the sky is lit up all green and purple? Bundled in a warm blanket we sat outside and admired the magic. The aurora was dancing above the mountains, with sudden white beams going on and off like giant spotlights. How does one describe such a miracle of nature? I hope you can join us sometime to experience the magic of winter in Alaska yourself.

Nodding off again…focus! I sing along with the last notes of Let’s Dance to stay awake.

The sky turned grey this morning and little snowflakes make their way down, love it!

Merry Christmas to you all and yes… ‘Let’s Dance’ with the northern lights in up in the sky.

Stay warm,
Eva
